Spring 2026 Newsletter

Happy Spring Everyone,

Hooray for warm weather! We are so late with this newsletter we have months of rescue catch up to tell you about. Enjoy all the wonderful things you made possible.

All of the rescue organizations below received one or more Little Guy Grants over the past seven months, allowing them to keep rescuing, pay vet bills, buy food, supplies, save animals from death in the nick of time, and keep doing what they do. We also helped many individuals care for their pets in these hard times with everything being so much more expensive every day. And it’s all thanks to your support. Thank you.

Global Giving for PASA

The Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA), which supports wildlife rescue centers across Africa, has its administrative headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, USA. PASA is a network of 23 organizations in 13 countries across Africa that rescue and rehabilitate primates, rather than a single physical rescue location.

Baja Animal Sanctuary

Tijuana and San Diego, CA

Tails of Joy is proud to announce that thanks to the generous grant which created the “Edith and Julie’s Spay and Neuter Fund at Tails of Joy”, we have funded the spay/neuter clinics at Baja Animal Sanctuary for a full year. Low to no- cost spay/neuter for all, no one will be turned away. And if you are in San Diego, Baja has adoption events for their great dogs every Saturday of every month (except the fourth Saturday of each month) at:

Lawyer Julie Bell, an animal lover and generous supporter of many worthy causes, left bequests to several organizations when she died, too young, of cancer. We have been proud to keep her name alive these last ten years, and proud that we are fulfilling everything she hoped for when she named this fund.

Please consider a bequest to Tails of Joy in your will or trust. We will honor you and keep your name and legacy alive.

Tails of Joy Helping Individual Animals in Need Across the Country

We feel keeping a pet in a home is as good as putting a pet in a home.

New Jersey, California, Michigan, Minnesota, South Carolina.

For people in financial need we spayed, neutered, chipped, vaccinated, paid vet bills, provided months of food, toys, treats, beds, leashes, supplements, and everything needed for them to be able to keep their pets.

We did the same for individual dogs and cats pulled straight out of shelters across the country to get them well and ready for their forever homes. Here are a few.

Some of the vets we paid for people who could not afford the bills:

Jackson Veterinary in Florida, West Shore Vet in Lake Michigan, VCA in Lakewood NJ, East Coast Spay/Neuter in Tom’s River NJ, Animal Medical Center in Niles OH, several vets in Mexico.

Maria in Mexico

Once again we supported our tireless one woman rescue tsunami, Maria, in the heart of Mexico where she is one of very few people rescuing street dogs. We paid vet bills all year. Luckily, only vets in America are huge gouging money machines. In most civilized countries you don’t have to sell your blood to be able to pay for a vet visit. Shame on most vets in the US. Time to rise up and break up the monopolies…

Great news in California!

Animal Recovery Mission

Florida

Fighting to stop abuse of animals in every industry across the country. Investigations, action, rescue. We bought them a lot of hay for the winter.

JKRC Animal Rescue Just Keep Rescuing Canines and Cats

New Jersey and the rural south

Eight abandoned puppies in a cardboard box in rural Alabama. Along with already having 28 dogs and 2 cats waiting for adoption, JKRC took in these pups. Tails of Joy made a life saving Little Guy Grant.

They arrived with no medical care, no supplies, and significant health concerns. JKRC stepped in immediately, and they are now safe in our foster network — but their care needs are extensive.

Below is a list of more rescue organizations we have helped since our last report. We hope you will visit their websites and perhaps find a new family member.
