Remember, the camera adds ten pounds.
Ice cream adds another twenty.

Writer Merrill Markoe painted these doors containing all her rescued dogs, herself and her sweetie.
Her great new book is called Walking in Circles Before Lying Down (amazon.com).

Ingrid, a true rescuer, writes: "This is me and my son Barish (means "Peace"
in Turkish). I found him 2.5 years ago in East LA on the streets and he has scars
on his legs and head.  I adore Barish, he is the love of my life. I moved so that I could keep him,
because my old landlady didn't allow him in the house and I always had to sneak him in.
Before him, the only thing I knew about this breed was what I had heard in the news. He changed my world."

Ingrid's Barish, Vivienne (up for adoption on our About Us page) and Barisha
(rescued from Downey shelter at 6 weeks, whom she has now placed in a wonderful new home).

Ingrid writes: "The black Shepherd is Sammie. I rescued him 1 year ago at 4 months old from the
South LA shelter on his last day. He just got adopted last Saturday! He is doing great and they love him very much."
